Perhaps one of the most beautiful wardrobes ever designed and made is this model of the English brand G-plan. Designed by V. B. Wilkins, this furniture was, among other things, a masterpiece from the popular and precious fresco models series. The whole is in an original vintage condition and from the first owner who bought this cupboard in England in the 1960s and also recently used there, there have been some traces of use due to various relocations, the so -called Patina. This manifests itself in some light scratches on the side, which gives this cupboard its own character. Most worth mentioning is a repair at the height of a hinge. This has already been neatly repaired in the 1970s, so we are talking about a time -wide repair. This wonderful cabinet in a rich, red lacquer would add interest and a luxurious feel to any room. It was produced in Shanxi province at the beginning of the last century and the red lacquer and gold motifs are quite typical of the region, considered lucky colours. The doors and lower panel are decorated with circles in gold, each one containing an auspicious animal, flower or other symbol important in Chinese culture.

The doors fit directly on wooden dowels into the cabinet’s frames above and below, doing away with the need for metal hinges. This ingenious design, along with the small drop handles on the doors (a replacement for the originals), provides the largest possible canvas for the beautiful decoration.

The two shelves inside are removable, while the interior board at the bottom can also be removed to reveal a ‘hidden’ section behind the bottom fixed panel. Two drawers below this – most likely a more recent addition as drawers are not normally seen on this type of cabinet – provide extra storage space.

Two-door cabinet of cherry wood with filling fields, bevelled corners and fluted pilasters with pipe decoration. The corners of the panels are decorated with dark patinated discs. The high plinth and the cornice are profiled several times.
