This Florentine sculptor, painter, architect and poet is renowned for his monumental works, including the fresco on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
This bronze represents the marble statue adorning the tomb of Lorenzo de’ Medici (1449-1492).
Laurent de Medici, known as “The Magnificent”, was much more than a patron of the arts to Michelangelo. The regard these two men had for each other is still evident, as engraved in the marble of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, where lies the man who was seen as the defender of Arts and Letters.
