Vintage Design
Stunning sofa by Knut Fjaestad, made from oak with a beautiful, intricate carved pattern of leaves, waves and lines that cover the whole piece. Knut Fjaestad was a merchant in Stockholm, who started making wooden furniture in the first decade of the 20th century, inspired by his brother, the artist Gustaf Fjaestad. Unlike his brother, Knut Fjaestad was self-taught as an artist. His designs were a unique take on Swedish Art Nouveau, born from his imagination and taking the specific qualities of the wood he worked with into account. When his designs were first presented in 1923, they were received as something completely new. He is represented at National museum in Stockholm, Sweden.
