Vintage Design
Leggera is a simple chair, with a polite, clear, cultured shape, strong in its past as a design icon. The Leggera chair marked the beginning of a process in 1952 that encompasses in one unicum the entire design and executive path of collaboration between Gio Ponti, Cesare Cassina, and its artisans.
The Leggera has uprights with an almost circular section and, due to its extreme resistance and simplicity that expresses all the nobility of the anonymous object, is a chair that has had a very high level of commercial and distribution over the years. A silhouette made of solid wood, in a range of variations designed to underline its elegance and to offer combinability with other models in the catalog.
The seat is covered in fabric or leather, or in natural paper rope. The multiple combinations of the tones of the wood structure and the various shades of the seat upholstery make this model extremely up-to-date, made up of contrasts of colors and materials, suitable to be placed in domestic and contract settings.
Literature: Domus n. 264-265, December 1951.
