Italian modern White Armchair Wassily B3 by Marcel Breuer for Gavina, 1960s Iconic Armchair mod. Wassily, also known as the mod. B3, with a rectangular seat in white leather. The structure, which holds the various leather parts, is in chromed tubular steel. Produced by Gavina in 1960s and designed by Marcel Breuer in 1929. Vintage conditions, it has various signs of aging, especially on the leather parts that connect to the structure and the seat. Measurements in cm 78x73x72.5h 40h seat 59h armrest. This chair was revolutionary in the use of materials and production methods. After experiencing the solidity of the steel tube used to build the Adler bicycle, Breuer thought of using the steel tubes to build furniture. For the creation of the Breuer chair he had turned to Adler, but the firm did not accept, so he turned to the Mannesmann firm which, already from 1885-86, worked steel tubes with innovative techniques. He then had the individual elements he needed bent and built the first prototype. The idea of Wassily is the replacement of the classic upholstered armchair with a lighter and simpler one.
