*The Tekke are the main stem of the Turkmen. They settle in the Republic of Turkmenistan and in Afghanistan.
During the Communist Revolution, numerous Tekke sips emigrated to the adjacent states of Afghanistan and Iran. More settles in Uzbekistan and Tadjikistan. The Tekke rugs are among the famous Turkmen carpets. Tekke rugs are also traded as Buchara carpets. Buchara (partly also Bochara) is an oasis city in Uzbekistan, which is located on the former Silk Road. Although no rugs were made in Buchara itself, the city is the name for many Orient rugs because they were traditionally exported from Buchara to the West.
