\n A beautiful expansive landscape of generous size, measuring 30″ x 30″, the frame being 34 3\/8″ x 34 3\/8″.<\/p>\n

Painter, muralist Henry Lovins was born in Russia on March 12, 1883. He studied at the New York School of Fine Arts and was head of the Denver School of Art before moving to Los Angeles in 1911. During 1917-21 he lived in San Diego.<\/p>\n

He was a pupil of Jean Mannheim, William Merritt Chase, Robert Henri and Edgar L. Hewett. His artworks were often influenced by Aztec and Mayan designs.<\/p>\n

He taught at various art schools in the Los Angeles area including the College of Fine Arts, School of Art & Design, and was founder and director of the Hollywood Art Center School.<\/p>\n

He was married to model Eleanor Johnson who later divorced him.<\/p>\n

Lovins died in Los Angeles on March 19, 1960 and is buried in the Griffith Lawn section of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California.
