\n There is the possibility that Don Knorr may have designed this for Vista. The steel framed chest was originated by George Nelson Associates. George Nelson was a prolific writer regarding modernism and modern furniture. He was employed by Herman Miller to head their modern department. He had a doctorate in Architecture. He had designers and engineers working for him. He signed off on their ideas. So the
notion that George Nelson was the Godfather of Modernism is pure baloney. That being said this 1950s stand utilized a steel frame with steel channels to hold the wooden drawers. Then there is the label Made in California. How terrific is that! The condition of this piece is good. It shows wear on the reverse outside of the drawer. Paint wear. Paint chips on the metal frame. It’s very old and very cute.
